Fundraising Initiatives

Many opportunities exist to support the hospital and pediatric research.  Currently here are some areas of focus:

Micah Smiles Fund

Micah and his twin brother Zachary were born three months prematurely. Zachary went home after three months in the NICU, but Micah’s hospitalization continued. In total, Micah spent three months in the NICU and seven months in the PICU. During his hospitalization, Micah’s parents dedicated themselves to making his life as joyful as possible. Mott’s music therapy program was an integral part of this process. In Micah’s memory, his parents have established the Micah Smiles Fund to help grow and expand the C.S. Mott Music Therapy Program for patients and their families. MORE – Click Here

Gracie’s Fund

Gracie is a survivor of pediatric leukemia.  In 2011, her extended family hosted an event titled “Miracles on Mackinac”, bringing friends from throughout the state together to support research related to relapse or complications surrounding leukemia. MORE - Click Here

The Coach Carr Mountain Top Experience Fund

Coach Lloyd Carr, former U-M football coach has a strong connection to Mott.  The Mountain Top Experience Fund was initiated by Coach Carr’s former players – to honor his commitment both on and off the field.  This fund will help kids at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital to have fun while in the hospital by supporting programs in Child and Family Life.  MORE - Click Here

The Charles Woodson Clinical Research Fund

Charles Woodson, former U-M football player, started this clinical research fund to support pediatric research.  While U-M is one of the top funded academic medical institutions by the National Institute of Health (NIH) – less than 10% of all NIH funding is allocated to support pediatric research.  Charles realized the groundbreaking work being done by U-M for pediatric research, and recognized the funding gap.  This research fund is dedicated to funding work is in its earliest stages of development when ideas have the greatest potential for impact and innovation.  MORE - Click Here

A Gift of a Bear

Every year around the holidays C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital receives phenomenal support from many thoughtful contributions to the Gift of a Bear program.  A donation to this fund covers the cost of the bear and appropriate gifts for kids at any age.  In addition, your contribution will support Child and Family Life and the Family Hope Fund – focused on making children and families more comfortable during their hospital stay. MORE - Click Here
